Answer Engine Optimization

Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) Agency & Services

We’re an answer engine optimization agency: we make your pages the answer that featured snippets, People Also Ask, AI Overviews, and voice assistants choose. Question mining, answer-block retrofits of the pages you already rank with, a clean schema layer, and monthly tracking of every answer you own. This page is built the same way. Consider that the audition.

Answer surfaces shift fast, so we update this page as they move. Last updated: July 2026.

Five surfaces, one discipline

Every place a machine hands your buyer a single answer is an answer surface. Each one is winnable, question by question:

  • Featured snippets

The answer box above the classic results.

  • People Also Ask

The expanding question boxes. Each one is winnable.

  • AI Overviews

Google’s generated answers, built from eligible pages.

  • Voice assistants

One answer read aloud. Position two doesn’t exist.

  • Chat engines

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot answering with sources.

AEO and GEO are not the same thing

Most agencies in this category use the two terms interchangeably. Some say so outright. That blur is how vague scopes and unfalsifiable promises get sold.

The line is simple. AEO is question-level: win the specific answer slot for a specific question. GEO is brand-level: be mentioned and cited across the answers AI engines generate about your whole category. Everything follows from that split, from the tactics down to what a monthly report should even show.

We run them as two disciplines that stack. This page covers the first; our generative engine optimization service covers the second, and both share one honest measurement setup.

What our answer engine optimization services include

Four deliverables, in the order they compound:

01

Question mining

We build an inventory of the questions your buyers actually ask, pulled from People Also Ask, query data, and your own sales calls. Then we map each one to the page that should own it.

  • Question inventory
  • Page-to-question map
  • Coverage gaps
02

Answer-block retrofits

Your ranking pages get rewritten openings: a self-contained 40–60 word answer directly under each question-shaped heading. The equity you built stays put. Only the shape changes, and nothing gets bloated.

  • Answer-first rewrites
  • Before/after diffs
  • New pages only for orphan questions
03

FAQ & schema layer

Visible FAQs built from real query data, marked up with FAQPage, Organization, and Article schema that matches the on-page text exactly. Machines parse it; nothing is invented for them.

  • FAQPage + entity markup
  • Schema validation pass
  • FAQ sections that earn their place
04

Answer tracking

Every target question gets an owner-of-record check: who holds the snippet, the PAA slot, the AI Overview citation. Each month you see the answers won, lost, and defended.

  • Answer ownership report
  • Snippet & PAA tracking
  • AI answer sweep

Google the questions your buyers ask. Whoever owns those answer boxes is taking your calls.

Map your questions

The rules answers actually follow

Answer surfaces aren’t mystical. Three constraints decide almost everything, and each one is checkable:

40–60 words

The self-contained answer length we write under every question heading. It’s complete enough to stand alone and short enough for an engine to lift whole.

Our standard, applied on this very page

99.6% of snippets

come from pages already ranking on page one. Answer boxes are won by reshaping content that already ranks, not by publishing more of it.

Eligible or invisible

Google’s official entry bar for answer surfaces, AI Overviews included: indexed and snippet-eligible in normal Search. Without eligibility there is no answer, from anyone.

Google Search Central

Retrofit first. Publish second.

The unfashionable truth about AEO is that most sites don’t need more content. They need the content that already ranks reshaped into answers. Our working rules:

Start from what already ranks
Since almost every snippet is won from page one, your existing rankings are the shortlist. We retrofit those pages first. It’s the fastest path from work done to answers won.
New content only for orphan questions
If a question in your inventory has no page to live on, we build one. If it does, we reshape it. AEO done honestly shrinks content plans more often than it grows them.
No eligibility, no answer
Blocked, noindexed, or nosnippet pages cannot win any answer surface. That part is official, not opinion. The technical audit runs before anyone touches copy.

Same self-demonstration promise as our GEO work: we track our own answer ownership with the setup we sell. See how we run it on our GEO page.

“Rankings are an audition. The answer box is the part. AEO is simply refusing to leave the casting to chance.”

AEO, answered like an answer engine

What’s the difference between AEO and GEO?

AEO is question-level: winning a specific answer slot, whether that’s the featured snippet, a People Also Ask box, or the answer an assistant reads out. GEO is brand-level: being mentioned and cited across AI-generated answers about your category. They stack, but they’re different disciplines with different scoreboards, which is why we run them as two services rather than one blurred offering.

Which schema types actually matter for AEO?

FAQPage on real visible FAQs, Organization for entity clarity, and Article plus BreadcrumbList for structure, always matching the on-page text exactly. One honest caveat: schema helps machines parse your pages, but it is not a ranking hack, and the numbers promising citation lifts from markup alone don’t hold up to inspection.

Can our existing content be retrofitted for answer engines?

Usually, and it should be: nearly all featured snippets are won by pages already ranking on page one. A retrofit rewrites the opening of each ranking page into a direct 40–60 word answer, adds the question headings buyers actually use, and marks the page up. Your equity stays. Only the shape changes.

How do you measure AEO results?

By answer ownership, per question: who holds the featured snippet, each People Also Ask slot, and the AI Overview citation for every question in your inventory. We check continuously and report monthly, as answers won, lost, and defended. Alongside that you get AI referral traffic in GA4 and a “how did you find us?” field on every lead.

How long until we win answer placements?

Retrofits of pages already ranking on page one move fastest, since snippets and PAA slots can change within weeks of a recrawl. Questions where you don’t yet rank take as long as ranking takes. Anyone quoting a fixed timeline for AI surfaces is guessing. We report against your baseline monthly instead.

How much does answer engine optimization cost?

It starts with a fixed-quote answer audit: your question inventory, the current ownership map, and a prioritized retrofit list, all priced before we begin. Ongoing work runs as a monthly retainer scoped by how many questions and pages we manage. You get a written number after the first call, and the estimate you get is the one you pay.

Does AEO help with voice search?

Yes. Voice assistants read out one answer, and in our experience it’s the same self-contained block that wins the featured snippet. Optimize for the answer surfaces once and the spoken ones come along for free. There is no separate “voice SEO” worth paying for.
