Generative Engine Optimization
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) Services
Our GEO services make your brand part of the answer when buyers ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or Google’s AI Overviews who to hire: a citation audit, entity and listing work, answer-layer content, and monthly mention tracking. Every tactic on this page traces to verifiable evidence. In a category full of agencies selling guesses, that’s the whole pitch.
This category moves fast, so we update this page as the evidence changes. Last updated: July 2026.

The numbers we’ll build on, and the ones we won’t
GEO marketing is drowning in statistics nobody can inspect. These three findings have real methodology behind them; everything we do for you maps to one of them:
30–40%
visibility lift in generative answers when pages add quotations, statistics, and cited sources. That was measured across 10,000 queries in the original GEO study.
86%
of AI citations come from sources brands own or manage: 44% first-party sites, 42% listings and directories. The boring work drives the bulk of it.
#1 & #2
YouTube and Reddit are the most-cited domains in AI Overviews. Presence there multiplies what your own site earns, rather than replacing it.
What our GEO service includes
Five layers, run in order. Under each one you’ll find the evidence it stands on, because “trust us” isn’t a methodology.
Step 1
Citation audit
Where do the engines mention you today, and where do they name your competitors instead? We baseline every money query across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and AI Overviews, logging mentions and links separately.
Why this works: Engines behave differently: Gemini mentions brands in 84% of appearances but links 21%; ChatGPT is the reverse. Tracking links alone hides most of your visibility (Semrush ghost-citations study, with Kevin Indig).
- Baseline visibility report
- Mentions vs links, per engine
- Competitor citation map
Step 2
Entity & listing layer
Clutch, GoodFirms, G2, DesignRush, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile: all complete, consistent, and identical to your site’s entity data. It’s unglamorous work, and statistically it’s half the battle.
Why this works: 42% of AI citations come from listings and directories (Yext). Most agencies skip straight to content and leave this on the table.
- Listing completeness pass
- Entity consistency audit
- Review pipeline setup
Step 3
Answer-layer content
Every page gets a self-contained 40–60 word answer under each question-shaped heading, plus the KDD quartet: statistics, named-expert quotations, linked sources, clean prose.
Why this works: These are the exact content tactics the KDD study measured a 30–40% generative-answer visibility lift for.
- Answer-first rewrites
- FAQ + schema layer
- Freshness calendar
Step 4
Reddit & YouTube presence
Genuine expertise in the subreddits your buyers read, and founder explainers on the questions they ask. We don’t spam and we don’t take shortcuts, because account standing is the asset.
Why this works: YouTube and Reddit are the two most-cited domains in AI Overviews (Ahrefs). Faking it gets accounts banned; earning it compounds.
- Community participation plan
- Video topic map
- Off-site mention tracking
Step 5
Tracking & monthly reporting
A weekly sweep of your money queries across four engines, AI referral traffic in GA4, and every inbound lead asked how they found you. You see mentions, links, and leads instead of vanity charts.
Why this works: Attribution is the honest gap in this category. Measuring three ways at once is how we close it.
- Monthly scoreboard
- GA4 AI referral channel
- Lead-source attribution
Ask ChatGPT who does what you do. If you’re not in the answer, let’s fix that.
Get the auditWe run this playbook on ourselves, scoreboard included
GEO is the rare service you can watch working: content about AI visibility gets cited by AI engines answering AI-visibility questions. So we treat this site as our own client. The audit, the answer layer, and the weekly sweep all run here first.
Our own baseline was logged in July 2026 with this exact setup. When we pitch you citation tracking, we walk you through our live numbers first. Just ask on the call.
Our live tracking setup
- Engines tracked
- ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews
- Money queries swept
- 10 per week, logged by hand
- Mentions vs links
- counted separately, per engine
- AI referral traffic
- GA4 channel group (chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini)
- Every inbound lead
- asked “how did you find us?” (AI answers counted)

Claims you’ll hear from GEO agencies, and what’s actually true
A young category attracts confident guessing. Before you buy GEO from anyone (including us), check their pitch against this list:
- “We guarantee placement in ChatGPT.”
- Nobody controls what a generative engine outputs, so anyone guaranteeing a citation is guessing on your budget. What you can control are the verified inputs: indexable answer-shaped content, consistent entity data, and presence on the sources engines cite most.
- “Add llms.txt and AI will find you.”
- Google’s official position: no new files or markup are needed to appear in AI features, and llms.txt is not used. We still ship one for agentic-web hygiene (it takes 30 minutes), and we promise nothing from it.
- “Schema markup lifts AI citations by 73%.”
- That number circulates without inspectable methodology, like the 800% and 3000% figures on competitor pages. Schema helps machines parse your pages, so we implement it properly. What we won’t do is sell it as magic.
- “GEO replaces SEO.”
- The entry ticket to Google’s AI surfaces is being indexed and snippet-eligible in normal Search. Google says so directly. GEO is built on top of SEO fundamentals, not instead of them.
GEO, SEO, AEO: how the three fit together
SEO
- Optimizes for
- Ranking pages in the classic results list.
- Where you show up
- Google and Bing result pages.
- Measured by
- Positions, clicks, organic revenue.
Decades of established rules. Still the foundation everything else stands on.
Our SEO services →AEO
- Optimizes for
- Being the single answer an engine selects.
- Where you show up
- Featured snippets, voice assistants, answer boxes.
- Measured by
- Answer ownership for target questions.
The bridge discipline: answer-shaped content serves classic search and AI at once.
Our AEO services →GEO
- Optimizes for
- Being cited inside AI-generated answers.
- Where you show up
- ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overviews.
- Measured by
- Mentions and citations per engine, AI-referred leads.
The rules are still forming, which is exactly why verified tactics beat confident guessing.
Where GEO pays off first
Young or undefined categories
When the engines are still deciding who defines a space, the first brand with answer-shaped authority becomes the reference. That window closes.
Considered B2B purchases
Buyers now ask AI for shortlists before they ever search. If your competitors are in the answer and you aren’t, you lost before the deal existed.
Trust-critical industries
Engines lean on verifiable, consistent, well-sourced entities. Firms that can prove what they claim have a structural advantage worth pressing.
“Half this industry is selling AI magic. The playbook that actually works is boring: be the best answer, everywhere the engines look, and keep receipts.”
Mayursinh Jadeja, Founder, Redlio Labs
Choosing a GEO agency, answered straight
What’s the difference between GEO, SEO, and AEO?
SEO ranks your pages in the classic results list. AEO makes your page the single answer an engine selects for a question. GEO makes your brand part of the answers AI engines generate in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google’s AI Overviews. They stack: SEO is the foundation, AEO shapes the content, and GEO extends both onto AI surfaces.
How do you measure AI citations?
Three ways at once: a weekly manual sweep of ten money queries across four engines, with mentions and links logged separately because engines behave differently (Gemini mentions brands far more often than it links them); AI referral traffic in GA4; and a mandatory “how did you find us?” field on every lead. You get all three in a monthly scoreboard.
How long until an AI engine cites my brand?
Honestly, there is no verified benchmark, and anyone quoting one is guessing. What is knowable is the sequence: your pages must be indexed and snippet-eligible first, and the entity and answer-layer work compounds from there. We report progress monthly against your baseline rather than promising a date.
Does llms.txt get me into AI answers?
No. Google states directly that no new files or markup are required for AI features, and that llms.txt is not a factor. Its own engineers have said so on record. We ship one anyway for agentic-web hygiene, because it costs 30 minutes. Any agency selling llms.txt as a citation tactic is selling you a placebo.
How much do GEO services cost?
An engagement starts with an AI visibility audit at a fixed quote agreed before we start. Ongoing work runs as a monthly retainer scoped by how many engines, queries, and content assets we manage. You get a written number after the first call, and the estimate you get is the one you pay.
Can you guarantee my brand appears in ChatGPT?
No, and nobody can, because nobody outside the AI labs controls generative output. What we do guarantee is the verified inputs: answer-shaped indexable content, consistent entity data across the sources engines actually cite, and honest measurement so you can see whether it’s working.
Is GEO replacing SEO?
No. Google’s official position is that AI Overviews and AI Mode have no additional requirements beyond being indexed and snippet-eligible in normal Search. Strong SEO is the entry ticket; GEO is the work that makes engines pick you once you’re through the door.
Do backlinks and directories still matter for AI visibility?
Yes. If anything, their effect is more visible than in classic search: 86% of AI citations come from sources brands own or manage, and directory listings alone account for 42%. A complete, consistent Clutch or G2 profile is now a citation asset, not just a badge.
