Design work: Manufacturing and industry
Steel supplier website design and development for industrial buyers: Ironix
Ironix is a steel supplier website we designed: a dark homepage with one strong yellow, the people who do the work up front, the same layout on a phone, and the mark on a building sign. The page also sets out how we develop an industrial website behind a design like this: product and spec pages from the ERP, a quote request the estimators can price, certificates a buyer can check and origin claims that hold up.

What the industrial website had to do
An industrial company sells reliability to buyers who will check it. The website has to show the work and the people who do it, and make it easy to start a conversation about a job.
The design is dark and direct, with one strong yellow. The homepage opens on Building a Stronger Future Together, a yellow Learn More button and a worker in a hard hat on a yellow panel, with a mission section below. The same layout carries from a desktop to a phone, and the mark moves to a sign on the building.
- Show the workThe work and its people lead the page.
- One accent colorDark, direct and easy to recognize.
- Made for phones tooThe same layout on a small screen.
Steel supplier website development, from the mill record to the quote
The homepage is the part a buyer sees first. An industrial website runs on four more parts behind it, and they decide most of the build.
Products and specs from the ERP
Grades, sizes, finishes and stock read from the ERP or PIM into one record per product, so the spec page, the catalog filters and the quote form never disagree. An RFQ the estimators can price
Material, grade, size, quantity, required date and a drawing upload, asked once, and sent to the CRM or estimating inbox with the job’s details attached.Certificates and mill test reports on file
Each certificate with its issuing body, scope, number and expiry, and mill test reports a customer can request by heat number, kept in a document library.A CMS the plant can edit
Capability, product and certificate pages edited by the people who own each fact, with a review date on every page so a change at the plant reaches the site.
What the Ironix industrial website does
Every page answers what an engineer or a buyer checks before asking for a quote: what the supplier makes, to what limits, and whether it can prove it.
Capability pages that state their limits
Cutting, bending and fabrication each with the materials, the maximum thickness and size, the tolerance and a Request a quote button.
A steel catalog an engineer can filter
Plate, beams and tube filtered by grade, thickness and size, with each product’s spec table readable on a phone and a dated PDF for the file.
An RFQ form built with the estimators
Grade, size, quantity, length, required date and a drawing upload, with a label on every field and nothing asked twice.
Certificates a buyer can verify
Each certificate with its issuing body, scope, number and expiry, a link to verify it, and mill test reports available by heat number.
The same site on a phone at the job site
Stock, specs and the quote request in a single column, with the Call and Request a quote buttons always in reach of a thumb.
An identity carried from the screen to the building
The Ironix mark with its yellow square on the site, the phone and the sign on the glass building, with the black and yellow palette the homepage sets.

Before you brief anyone
Planning an industrial website? Settle these first
Settle the buyer, where each fact lives and which claims the site can prove before the homepage.
Request a scoping callDecide who the site has to convince.
Engineers, plant managers and procurement teams check capability before they call, so the pages lead with the work, the limits and the proof rather than with slogans. For plants that make their own products, our manufacturing website design page sets out how we plan the site around a supplier check.
Decide where each fact comes from.
Grades, sizes and stock belong in the ERP or PIM, certificates with the quality team, and the site reads from them, so a page never shows a size the mill no longer rolls.
Decide which origin and compliance claims the site makes.
Made in USA, Buy America and DFARS specialty metals each have their own test, and a claim on a product page has to meet it. Our manufacturing page covers the plant systems behind those records.
Then plan the inquiry route for a long sale.
A quote request or a technical question is the usual first step, so it sits on every page with a form short enough to finish. Our website redesign checklist lists what to settle before briefing, and our web development page covers the build.

What does steel supplier website design include?
Capability pages with their limits, a product or spec catalog, certificates with their issuers, the industries served, a quote request on every page and a layout that works on a phone. Ironix presents the work and its people in a dark layout with one strong yellow, from the homepage to the building sign.
Do you develop industrial websites as well as design them?
Yes. We design industrial websites through our web design service and build them through our web development work, with spec pages fed from the ERP and quote requests sent to the CRM. Ironix, shown here, is design work: the site and the brand.
How much does an industrial website cost?
The scope sets it: the number of pages, the product and capability content, the catalog, and any links to a CRM or ERP. We quote after a scoping call, and our guide to website redesign cost walks through the factors.
Should an industrial company use a template or a custom built website?
A template suits a supplier with a few capability pages and one contact form. A custom build pays when the site carries a filterable product catalog, spec tables from the ERP, quote requests with drawings, or certificates and test reports buyers download.
How is industrial website design different from manufacturing website design?
They overlap. A distributor or service center like a steel supplier sells stock, grades and processing, so the catalog and the quote request lead; a plant that makes its own products leads with capabilities and quality. Our manufacturing website design page covers the plant side.
Can a steel supplier website say Made in USA?
Only for products that meet the FTC’s test: final assembly or processing and all significant processing in the US, with all or virtually all inputs made in the US. Buy America and DFARS specialty metals claims have tests of their own, so each claim sits on the product page with its proof behind it.
Why design industrial branding and the website together?
Because the mark has to work on the website, on the building and on everything in between. Ironix was designed as one identity, carried from the homepage and its phone layout to a sign on a glass building.
What an industrial website has to get right before launch
A steel supplier’s website makes origin and compliance claims buyers rely on, lists certificates they will check, and carries the quote form a sale starts with.
Made in USA
Origin claims that meet the FTC test
The FTC rule allows a Made in USA label only when final assembly or processing and all significant processing are in the US, and all or virtually all inputs are US made.

Steel for federal-aid highway jobs
For federal-aid highway projects, steel and iron products must have all manufacturing processes, including coating, in the US, so a supplier states which products qualify.

Specialty metals for defense work
Under DFARS 252.225-7009, specialty metals in items delivered to the Department of Defense must be melted or produced in the US, its outlying areas or a qualifying country.

Certificates a buyer can confirm

Core Web Vitals
We settle which claims each product page can make, and where its proof lives, during scoping, so the site launches with nothing to retract. Whether a product qualifies is a question for the company’s compliance team.
