Design work: Car rental

Car rental app design for premium cars, in a dark interface

An app for renting premium cars, designed under the project name Rentease: the welcome screen and the car list in a dark interface, and the identity around the app.

What the car rental app had to do

Someone renting a car wants to know what is available, where it is and what a day costs. The app has to answer all three on the first screen.

The design opens on one line and one button, then goes straight to the cars. Each car gets a card with its photograph, seats, location, rating and price per day, and a row of car makes sits above the list as filters. The interface is dark, so the cars stand out.

  • One line, one buttonThe welcome screen asks for one tap.
  • A card for each carPhotograph, seats, place and day price.
  • Dark, so cars stand outA black screen behind every photograph.

Before you brief anyone

Planning a car rental app? Settle these first

Settle the filters, the car card and the booking rules before the screens.

Request a scoping call
  1. Decide what someone narrows the fleet by.

Make, price per day, seats and pick-up location are the common filters, and for a premium fleet the make may come first; Rentease puts car makes in a row above the list.

  2. Decide what a car card has to prove.

A photograph, the seats, the location, the rating and the day price let someone shortlist without opening a car, so extras and terms can wait for the detail screen.

  3. Decide how booking, deposits and documents work before any screen is drawn.

License checks, deposits and pick-up times shape the booking flow more than the visuals do. Car rental app development is the step after design; our mobile app development page covers it.

  4. Then get quotes against one written scope.

Our guide to mobile app development cost shows which decisions carry the most weight.

What should a car rental app include?

A way to narrow the fleet, a card for each car with the facts that decide a booking, and a booking flow for dates, documents and payment. Rentease’s home screen covers the first two: a search bar, filters by make and a card for each car with seats, location, rating and price per day.

Why design a car rental app with a dark interface?

A dark screen puts the car photographs forward, which suits a premium fleet. In this design every photograph sits on black, and the welcome screen offers one line and one Explore Now button.

What makes a luxury car rental app different?

The cars carry the sale, so photography and restraint matter more than promotions. The identity matters too: here the mark carries on to the app icon, a yellow business card and mugs.

How much does a car rental app cost?

The platforms, the booking and payment rules and the fleet systems behind the app drive the figure, so we price it after a scoping call. Our guide to mobile app development cost walks through those drivers.

Do you design car rental apps?

Yes. We design rental and booking apps as part of our mobile app design work, from the welcome screen to the booking flow. Rentease is one example.
