Event booking app design, from the city feed to the ticket

An app for finding and booking events, designed under the project name Nexvent: a home feed sorted by category, an event page that ends in a buy button, and the identity for the product.

What the event booking app had to do

Someone choosing what to do this weekend decides quickly. They need to see what is on near them, when, where and for how much, and then book before the thought passes.

The design opens on the city and a row of categories: music, comedy, meetups. Each event is a card with its dates, place, hours, starting price and age limit, and a button to book. The event page adds a photo gallery and directions, with the buy button at the foot of the screen.

  • Events by categoryMusic, comedy and meetups, one tap each.
  • The facts on the cardDates, place, hours, price and age limit.
  • One button to bookBook or buy, always in the same orange.

What we designed for the event booking app

  1. Home feed

The city, the categories and a card for each coming event.

  2. Event page

Dates, place, a photo gallery, directions and a buy button.

  3. Navigation

Three tabs at the foot of the app: home, ticket and profile.

  4. Brand identity

The mark and wordmark, shown on a building and on mugs.

Before you brief anyone

Planning an event booking app? Decide these first

Settle the way in, the card and the checkout before the first screen is drawn.

Request a scoping call
  1. Decide what people browse by.

City, date and category are the usual ways in, and whichever leads the home screen decides how quickly someone finds a night worth booking.

  2. Decide which facts sit on the card and which wait for the event page.

Dates, place, price and age limit let someone rule an event in or out without a tap; galleries and directions can come after.

  3. Decide who handles payment and the ticket itself.

A ticketing partner, an in-app checkout or pay at the door each change the booking screens and the build behind them. Event management app development for organizers is a separate build; see our mobile app development page.

  4. Then fix the screen list before asking for a price.

Our guide to mobile app development cost explains the main variables.

What should an event booking app include?

A feed of events a user can narrow down, an event page with the date, place and price, and a booking step that stays in one place on screen. Nexvent opens on the city and its categories, and every event page ends in a Buy Now button.

What makes an event app quick to book from?

Putting the deciding facts on the card and keeping the book button in one color and one position. In this design the button is always orange, and each card carries the dates, place, hours, starting price and age limit.

Can one ticket booking app design serve concerts, comedy and meetups?

Yes, when categories lead the home screen. Nexvent sorts events into music, comedy and meetups, one tap each, so the same feed works for very different evenings.

How much does an event booking app cost?

It turns on the platforms, the payment and ticketing set-up and whether organizers get screens of their own, so we price it once the scope is written. Our guide to mobile app development cost sets out the variables.

Do you design event apps?

Yes. We design event and ticket booking apps as part of our mobile app design work, from the home feed to the booking step.
