Design work: Real estate
Real estate website design and branding built around one home search
A website for a real estate company, designed under the project name Keyscape: a homepage built around a rent, buy and sell search, for desktop and phone, and the identity that goes with it.

What the home search website had to do
A visitor to a real estate site arrives with a question already formed: what is there to rent or buy, of this type, at this price, in this place. The homepage has to let them ask it straight away.
The design puts the search on the first screen. Rent, buy and sell are tabs on one form, with the property type, price and location below them and popular searches underneath. One green is used for the buttons and the mark, and on a phone the same form comes right under the headline.
- Search on the first screenThe form is on screen with the headline.
- Rent, buy and sellThree tabs at the top of one search form.
- The same on a phoneThe form comes right under the headline.

Before you brief anyone
Planning a real estate website? Decide these first
Settle the search, the listing source and the reach of the brand before the first screen is drawn.
Request a scoping callDecide what visitors search by before the homepage is drawn.
Rent or buy, property type, price and location are the common filters, and their order shapes the first screen, the listing pages and the data behind them.
Decide where the listings come from.
An MLS feed, a listing platform, a CRM or an office team typing them in each needs a different build, so the source is settled before real estate web design starts.
Decide how far the brand has to travel.
Real estate branding ends up on street signs, boards, vehicles and printed material as well as the site, so test the mark at sign size and at icon size before signing it off.
Then put the site and the systems behind it in one written scope.
Our guide to website redesign cost shows what moves the number, and our real estate software development page covers listing feeds and the data rules that travel with them.

What should a real estate website include?
A property search on the first screen, a page for each listing with its price, photographs and details, and a clear way to reach an agent. Keyscape shows the first of those: rent, buy and sell tabs on one form, with property type, price and location below them.
How much does a real estate website cost?
The number follows the page types, the listing source and the systems the site connects to, so we price it after a scoping call rather than from a rate card. Our guide to website redesign cost explains what moves it.
Is real estate branding part of website design?
It can be, and this project covers both: the Keyscape site, and a house mark and wordmark shown on a street sign, a green panel and a cap. One green ties the buttons on the site to the mark.
Does a property website need a separate phone design?
It needs the search to work there without scrolling. In this design the same rent, buy and sell form sits right under the headline on a phone, so a visitor can start a search from the first screen.
Do you design real estate websites?
Yes. We design real estate and property websites as part of our web design work, with the brand identity when it is needed. Keyscape is one example; our real estate app design is another.
