Renewable energy website design for wind power, from screen to hard hat

A website and identity for a wind energy company, designed under the project name Turbica: the homepage, and the mark carried from the screen to business cards and a site hard hat.

What the wind energy website had to do

A wind energy company sells something its buyer cannot see: power from turbines that stand far from the people who use it. The website has to make that concrete, and give a visitor a way to ask for a price.

The design opens on the turbines themselves, at sunset, under a single headline. The menu is four links, and two cream buttons stand out against the dark sky: one of them asks for a quote. The mark is plain enough to hold on a business card and on a hard hat.

  • The turbines firstA wind farm at sunset fills the hero.
  • One clear askA quote button sits in the top corner.
  • A mark that travelsFrom the header to a card and a hard hat.

Before you brief anyone

Planning a renewable energy website? Decide these first

Settle the buyer, the quote and the figures before the homepage.

Request a scoping call
  1. Decide which buyer the homepage serves first.

Utilities, landowners, investors and businesses buying power read a wind or solar company’s site for different reasons, and each needs its own route from the first screen.

  2. Decide what the quote button actually starts.

A power purchase inquiry, a site assessment and a rooftop solar quote each need different form fields and a different person to answer them.

  3. Decide which figures to publish and who keeps them current.

Installed capacity, project count and output are what an energy buyer looks for, and each one needs an owner and a date beside it.

  4. Then make the brand work outside the browser.

An energy company website design is one part of an identity that appears on site equipment, vehicles and documents. Our web design service covers the site and the identity, and our guide to website redesign cost sets out what the budget depends on.

What should a renewable energy website include?

What the company generates or installs, for whom, and a direct way to ask for a quote, with figures that are current and dated. Turbica opens on wind turbines at sunset under one headline, with a four-link menu and two cream buttons, one of them a quote request.

Can a wind energy website design work for a solar company?

The structure carries over: the product as the lead image, one headline, one ask. The photography, the figures and the buyer change, so a solar website design starts from its own audience.

How should an energy company brand work offline?

The mark has to stay legible small and on equipment. Turbica’s mark is plain black on white, on business cards and on the front of a hard hat.

How much does an energy company website cost?

The audiences it serves, the quote forms and the brand work set the scope, and the scope sets the price, which we give after a scoping call. Our guide to website redesign cost explains the variables.

Do you design websites for energy companies?

Yes. We design websites and identities for energy and clean technology companies as part of our web design work. Turbica is one; Sparkon is our EV charging website design.
